Latest Issue Bead

Look at me posts back to back!!

Do I here a whoop whoop whoop!!  No ~~ oh well here goes anyway!!

The Latest issue of Bead ~~  I made the front cover with my copper/pink bangle.

Bottom right corner

The bangle is called Chinese Whispers I thought it had a little chinese feel to it and liked the name so here are all the colour variations I made for it.

I love the colours really vibrant, with my weaving technique for the project, the pink wire is using 0.315mm wire and the purple is using 0.56mm wire. the difference is the pink is much finer and the purple more obvious.

Would love to know if you have decided to have a go at trying it out.

I will be adding more tutorials to the blog very soon and I would love to know if you would like to see me do any specific tutorials for you.

I do love to get comments so don't be shy leave any comments you want to pass on I always read them and will respond when possible.  (Please no advertising though)

More updates very soon!

Comic Con May 2013

Slight delay in posting this but must show it because it was one of the major things going on in my life over the last few months.

So this happened the following week after Billies Prom so here goes:

The Character is called Grell from the manga/anime/graphic novels 'Black Butler'.

He is basically the Grim Reaper and instead of a death scythe he has a chain saw.  Billie and her Dad have built the chain saw from wood and copper pipe.

At the Station with Matt

Nan made the coat and the waist coat was converted from one of mine. I sorted the 2 wigs out by sewing them together as the character has really long red hair.  This is her and Matt at Luton Parkway as we waited for the train to London.  He went as a character from the League of Legends game.

This is the rest of the gang when we eventually met up with them after a 2 hour queue to get in!!!   Never again!!!!!

Matt, Billie (with chain saw), Molly (as Hermione), Charlotte (as Elizabeth also from Black Butler) her little sister Anastasia (as Tinkerbell) and Micah on the end (cant remember what his character was called)

This is the young chap we met in the 2 hour queue

We also met a few other characters along the way too.

with Alien

And Predator

Fun was had by all.

She is already trying to decide on what to do for the next show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exhausted!!!

I have had lots of trouble trying to post this, it has taken me at least 3 attempts to do it, finally its worked!  Hoping the next one wont be so long!!!

See you again really soon!!

So much to tell

Busy, busy, busy!!

I can't believe how much has been going on, so much so I just haven't had the time to tell you.

I will spread them out over different posts, first up is Billie's Leavers Prom.

Yes she has had her Prom,  2 weeks ago now, her school has their prom before there exams.  Little unusual but its all over and now she is in the middle of her exams right now!!

So hectic, rushing around trying to get all the accessories sorted out and I even left it so late to do her tiara it was ready the night before she needed it!!!   Phewwww!!

Faerie Spells Tiara for Billie

As you can see it has been made with red and clear AB swarovski crystals.on silver plated wire and tiara band.

And here is she all glammed up ready to go to Prom

In the garden

The Hair do with tiara

Mercedes Car courtesy of Uncle Vince

Katie did her hair for her and the car was hired, via Uncle Vince who works for Mercedes in Milton Keynes (which she loved!!)

After a few glitches as she forgot to get her friends address who was also coming along in the car too. She finally got to Prom and had a great evening at Woburn Safari Lodge, including riding on the Swan Boats.

Next time ~~ will be the other big event we were preparing for!!

New Glassy Goodies

OOOO look at me 2 posts inside a week!!!

But I was itching to show you my new goodies, I've been looking to have a go at them for weeks now and finally got going!

Here they are

Yes they are glass headpins for all you jewellery makers out there!!

The main problem was how to successfully make them without burning me!  So the first go was with the red berries/rosehips and the red heart, I thought I would try tapeing them to a bead mandrel with some duck tape.  It did work but was very messy and sticky.

So then I decided to try a different idea and thought why dont I just wire them onto a mandrel and that worked a treat, it was good as I could spin them just like making a bead and didnt burn my fingers which was great!!

The bluedrops I also added some frit and then pulled them into a lovely pointy drop shape which I think are so pretty.  So I will definitely be making more.  These aren't annealled yet as I decided to batch anneal them, then I hope what will happen is the copper wires will darken as they will get annealled as well.  I will need to hammer them to harden them but they will look antiqued, these then could be used as earrings by using the wire as the earring hook all in one piece.

I will show you how that goes once I have annealled them so you can see what I mean!!

I have lots on this week as its my daughter Billie's School Prom on friday and still haven't made her tiara yet along with some bobby pins for her hair.  And I am writing the next tutorial for Bead magazine as well ~~~ what am I doing now ~~ well writing this of course!!!!!

So better fly and get cracking with the tiara ~~~  like now!!!!!

Right bye for now

Latest Bead Magazine

I know its a bit late but I am in the latest issue of Bead Magazine

here is my tutorial piece(s)

Swirling Tempest

Its wild and stormy - this issue was a special issue with the theme Back to Nature.

I decided to use one of my seascape beads as the focal I dont use my own beads very often but as I am also profiled in this issue of the magazine as well,  I was able to use my beads in the project, so the article had a 2 page spread and the project had a 4 page spread so lots of pages - huh!!!!  80))

It was quite a large advanced project and it took me a while to write it so my next one isnt so large but I did enjoy making it and I am pretty pleased with it.   I hope the readers will like it.

I also made the connectors and the beads on them too. Its my first major project where I made the majority of the components, so I am pleased with this achievement and one I have had on my long list of goals to fulfill. So thats another tick in the box!!

Next time I will show you what new ideas I have been working on.

So till next time

Busy Creating!

I cant believe how bad I have been,  I did promise to be good and up date more often but since I have had my new phone I have been whizzing around on that and neglecting everything I need to do here!!

So what have I been doing, well, I've been busy doing ~~~  various different things, like:

Pinterest ~ yes set up a new account  ChatElaine Wire and Fire

loving the storage of all sorts of fab photos around the net!

Come visit me there I have a new tab in my side bar too so you can visit me anytime you like

Flickr ~  ChatElaine Wire and Fire  ~~ I set up a new account just before christmas but never did too much to get it going ~~  I have been whizzing around finding contacts from my previous account (faerie wishes) I have shut my old one down but probably will only put more family orientated photos on there from now on.

Etsy ~  well you know I have two Etsy stores, I have been listing new jewellery and new beads too with more to come soon.

This one is in my jewellery shop ChatElaine Creations

I have new cabs and buttons in my bead shop ChatElaineGlassArt along with seascape beads and still more to come too.

I have been trying out shank type buttons too and here are my Hugs and Kisses set along with my toadstool as well.

I need to make more, more, more!!!!

But life at home is very hectic at the moment and I just don't have enough hours in the day to get what I want done.  I have started doing my other job as swim club assistant along with running around sorting things for Billie as her exams are getting close, her prom too and we need to finish finding her outfit and Comic Con too with her costume still to create!!  We are making headway but all I seem to be doing is shopping, shopping and more shoppppingggggggggg!!  I'm exhausted!!!

More posts still to write so will try and get them done ASAP!!

See you again very soon!!

Exams & Costumes

Right EXAMS first...

My daughter Billie ~~ my very clever daughter!!!!  80*  xoxoxoxox

She got her Science retakes results
(well couple of weeks ago actually but haven't got round to telling you all - Sorry about that, so here we go then!)

Yes I am very proud to say they were all A's  ~~ that means that all six of them are A's now (she retook the B results)

Physics P123 & P456
Chemistry C123 & C456
Biology B123 & B456

She loves Physics so much so she is taking it as one of her A levels
along with Maths, Art and now Biology (which she changed from psychology)

I am so happy, she is working so hard.

Next is her Art exam ~ which is over the next 2 days and she has just handed in her Product Design Coursework too.

Then she will have to complete her other art projects/coursework by 1st May.

And then its into all her other exams in May/June.

Its very stressful for her and its been quite stressful for me too as I have been helping her as best I can, with ideas for her Art work, finding materials she can use (usually from my Aladdins Cave of a workshop ~ its amazing what I can conjure up from my cupboards) and just generally being there for her!!

She definitely needs the Easter break to have a bit of relaxation time!!

I expect we will need to go shopping as she will want to start sorting out her outfit for the next Comic Con  in May.   This is a comic/cosplay convention held in the Excel in London.  She loves to dress up and has recently dressed up as a Manga character Sakura Haruno (Naruto) for the recent Comic Relief 2013.

She went around the school with her trusty bucket collecting for the charity but had some competition this time from the sixth formers doing the same thing.  She collected £28 as opposed to the last 2 events when she collected over £70 for Children in Need each time. She was a little disappointed but I told her that it was still good for one person to achieve.

She has decided to start blogging about her fundraising and her cosplay costumes and the events she attends.  When I get the link I will let you know (I cant remember what shes called her new blog!!!)

Next time will have new beads to show

New Button Designs

I have a few new designs for buttons

Spatter Lagoona Button

Seascape Button

I enjoy working the buttons they are always challenging and making sure the holes are good can be quite difficult at times.  I hope to come up with other designs too very soon.  The spatter design comes from the lentil bead designs I did way back last year, it is loosely based on the artist Miro.  I love abstract designs and want to create more designs in this way, I have a few ideas!!!   80))

I have also made some new cabochons in my seascape design too.  I was making some for my beadweaver friend Sue as she was making a piece for a competition so I made quite a few so she could choose which ones she wanted, the rest have been listed in my etsy bead store  www.chatelaineglassart.etsy.com

Ocean Tides

I do enjoy making them but sometimes they become misshapen (like the top cab did!) Oooppps!! It can be difficult to keep this design from losing the circular shape but with more practice I am sure I will overcome this!

Ocean Tides is the biggest at 28mm dia.  I make them on a white base with aqua for the sea and dark ivory for the sand with lots of decoration from silvered ivory stringer, yellow and coral dots to represent little corals etc. on the seabed and twisties for shell looking additions. A murrini is on each one for some added interesting detail like a jellyfish or sea urchin maybe!!

With the cabs I try not to get too close to the edge with the raised decoration as this can hinder the beadweaving encasement which holds it in place, thats why most of it is centralised.

Just need to go make some more me thinks!!  Maybe tomorrow ~~ Yeah!!!

Big 50

Well I hit the big 50 last week.

Prior to that, I have been very busy with the latest Bead magazine tutorial.  I finally completed it on my BIRTHDAY ~~ eventually!!  Yep it took me quite a while to complete it but I got there in the end, I then trudged through the snow to the post office to get it off to the magazine.

As for the weather ~~~ well the snow completely scuppered all my Birthday plans I had in mind and so I ended up cancelling my Ladies Afternoon Tea at Luton Hoo!!

Its all posh and everything........

Very disappointed, I had to rearrange it and it will now take place this coming Sunday 3rd Feb.

I have a total of 17 (including myself) coming along and am very much looking forward to it!  The weather better be good this time!!!!

I did go out to dinner on my birthday with lots of my lovely friends and family, again the snow spoilt things as I was going for Chinese (my favourite) and ended up across the road at my local Hungry Horse ~~ so settled for my second favourite instead  ~~ Steak!! Lovely it was too!!  I had a lovely evening too. Billies pictures didnt come out too well but I think I have about one good one, she is still in training, bless her!!

I got some lovely pressies as well as lots of cards (not one 50 one was duplicated ~ very unusual!) Flowers, choccies and balloons everything you could wish for on your birthday!!!  Superb!!!

Hope to have some beadies for you next time as I am working on a commission for a friend!!

See you again soon

Happy New Year for 2013

I never got to wishing everyone a Merry Christmas so thought I would make up for it by wishing you a very

HAPPY NEW YEAR for 2013

I have been thinking about the new year and what it may hold and I really hope it will be an improvement on this year ~ especially healthwise for me.  So I have been deciding on what things I want to do in the coming year!

I like to make lists ~ this helps me to remember to begin with, as well as having all my thoughts/ideas in one place to look back at.

Right were to begin???

1.  ART ~  I have been involved with helping my daughter in her Art projects for her GCSE's this year and it has made me a little envious and so I really want to get back to my paint brushes and get my canvases out (which are just sitting there doing nothing other than getting in the way) so why not get some paint on them and get them up on the wall.  Could use some collage images and some abstract art on them as well as maybe some of my daughters art here and there too, sort of a family collage painting, something along those lines anyway!

2.  STAINED GLASS ~ yes this is something I learnt a long time ago but havent done any making for a number of years!! The thing is I have a few areas in the house that need windows for that have been earmarked for stained glass.  Partly due to the fact I am unsure what designs to use for these areas along with the fact my workshop now is set up for beadmaking so my bench isnt fit for stained glass making.  I am unsure if I will be able to get this project underway this year but it goes onto the list, hoping I will get it done!

3.  JEWELLERY ~  mainly tutorials, for the magazines and for here on my blog. I will just do those as I go along, making decisions on what as they come up.  I already have some in the pipeline anyway.  I do want to get more wirework pieces into my etsy store and am thinking about brooches/scarf rings, maybe finger /thumb rings and even some earrings too.

4.  BEADS ~ now then this is a big issue!!  I have so many techniques to learn and also revisit to perfect the techniques also I want to come up with some new designs as well.

Buttons (more, more and lots more!!)

Cabochons (love these, got some new ideas for cabs too)

Sets Designs ~ sockys,  focals as well as the sparkle beads (transparent small beads) too

spatter

mayhem series

Jelly Roses, to name just a few

Focal Designs ~ Dynasty series,

Seascapes (like the cabs as well)

My Chatelle beads (Big Holes) get my new bead roller christened, this has different bead shapes.

Techniques I would like to try are  ~ the Chaos designs

~~  more DH silver glasses ~~ results arent always as good so need to get my technique more controlled!

Also need to get a better flame control this in turn will improve my designs as I cant always achieve the end result I want.   Just got out of practice I guess along with confidence too.

So need to be more positive and get cracking again!!!  Yep!!  Fire up my little Cricket!!

Roll on 2013!

80))
